Due to the recent breach at Equifax, I thought I would share information with everyone on how to put a security freeze on your credit reports.  A credit freeze basically stops anyone from checking your credit.  If you were to decide you wanted to get a loan, mortgage, rental, etc. you would have to do a temporary unfreeze of your record.  This will pretty much stop anyone from being able to steal your identity, and in my opinion is way better than any credit monitoring you could get.  This is proactive, instead of reactive.  I am listing the websites below for the major three credit bureaus to request your credit freeze.  In Idaho, where I am, they are allowed to charge $6 per agency to get your report frozen.  It varies by state.

Information from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) on what a freeze does, and how to request it:  https://www.consumerfinance.gov/ask-cfpb/what-does-it-mean-to-put-a-security-freeze-on-my-credit-report-en-1341/
